Deze tweedehands Leco TruMac CNS analyser is recentelijk aangeschaft. Op dit moment is het instrument echter nog in gebruik bij de vorige eigenaar, een Nederlands laboratorium, voor routine analyses. Het instrument is in goede conditie en altijd in onderhoud geweest bij Leco. Het betreft een compleet operationeel systeem inclusief, PC met software, autolader, monsterschuitjes, etc.
Deze tweedehands Leco TruMac CNS analyser, model 630-300-200 biedt naast de bestaande koolstof/stikstofconfiguratie ook de mogelijkheid om zwavel te analyseren. Zwaveldetectie is perfect voor analyse van bodem- en plantenweefsel; deze optie werd echter niet toegepast voor de huidige analyse op het laboratorium. Monsters in grote, herbruikbare keramische schuitjes worden in een horizontaal keramisch verbrandingssysteem geplaatst, met zuivere zuurstof en een maximale temperatuur van 1450 ° C. Bij verbranding wordt koolstof omgezet in CO2, stikstof in N2 en zwavel in SO2. Onafhankelijke IR-detectoren worden gebruikt voor gelijktijdige detectie van koolstof en zwavel. Stikstof wordt gemeten met behulp van een detectiesysteem voor thermische geleidbaarheid.
